MISSIONS OF A GENDARMERIE C.R.C UNIT

This kind of unit is assigned to fulfill traditional anti-riot police missions:

-         to ensure the maintenance of law and order

-         to enforce the law along with the local divisional gendarmerie

-         to maintain a high level of efficiency and effectiveness throughout a high profile training.

Maintenance of law and order

As all the gendarmerie CRC unit in France (except those based in Paris), the CRC unit of DECIZE carries out this mission all over the French territory and even in the French overseas departments or territories.

In normal civil peaceful period, the main missions are carried out in PARIS. This kind of mission can last one month or one month and a half as well.

Advanced training courses take place in the French national gendarmerie training center based in SAINT ASTIER. All the units have a training period planned in this center at least once every two years.

Reinforcements with the departmental Gendarmerie

Local gendarmerie stations are usually backed up during:

-         summer or winter holidays

-         special fixtures

  The training

Most of the newly-graduated gendarmes intend generally to join the divisional gendarmerie. Thus, they have to attend a 2-year-training period to pass a technical certificate exam. This certificate is compulsory to become a gendarmerie non-commissioned officer.

This certificate passed, the best NCOs have the opportunity to reach upper ranks. They have to sit for either the investigation senior police officer competitive exam or the military and anti riot branch competitive exam.

All over a year, the gendarmes have access to a wide range of training courses dealing with several interesting branches such as: commando or intervention training, sports, shooting, telecommunications, mechanics or even catering.
